Welcome to Lark & Revel. I’m glad you’re here!

When I was young, I used to love flipping through my grandmother’s stacks of magazines. I would daydream about all the places I would visit and the wonderful life I would create for myself and my loved ones in between. Fast forward to 2017. I found myself overworked, overstressed, and approaching life with an all-or-nothing mindset. I needed a change and a new focus. So, I started Lark and Revel with one of my dearest friends and most kindred traveling companion as an inspiration to actively seek out the joie de vivre wherever we are. As it so often does, life has thrown a few curveballs since those early days. Ashlee moved to Austin, and life has carried her in a new and exciting direction. As for me, I decided to continue carving out my own little editorial space here at larkandrevel.com.
I’m looking forward to blogging about many more experiences and exciting adventures to come. I hope you’ll join me.
About Me
Hi, I’m Crystal, Co-founder of Lark and Revel, incurably curious, and an expert at going down rabbit holes. You know those people who have to know all the things just because? Yeah, that’s me. Wanna make a mint julep? Ooh, I wonder how it was invented. The recipe calls for bourbon whiskey? Why? What’s the difference between whiskey and bourbon? Wait, should I capitalize the letter B in bourbon? (Depends on who you ask). You get the picture.
I’ve always enjoyed thinking, researching and writing. I’m also a joyful planner. For me, planning is (almost) as much fun as the anticipated experience itself. So starting a blog just seemed like a logical next step for me. I’m not here to be an influencer in the space. This blog is a labor of love, an inspiring experiment, and a place to create community and share with others.
Lark and Revel is a collection of my travel plans and adventures, triumphs and fails, and the practical advice and recommendations that result from my best efforts at a life well-lived. I hope to entertain, inspire, and connect with others who share my passion for travel and culture, good company, and delicious food. I promise to share the good, the bad, the hilarious and only recommend what I can authentically vouch for firsthand.
I currently live in Dallas, TX, with my husband, Mike, our Disney-loving daughter, Catherine, and our three dachshund doggies, Silas, Sandy, and Scooter. I’m a former liberal arts major with a degree in modern languages. By trade, I’m an Adult Education and Literacy Instructor and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach. When I’m not teaching online or in the gym, you can find me hanging out with my family and friends or daydreaming about my next adventure.
I hope you enjoy it!
